What is April's Big Give?

Cornerstone is always looking for a way to elevate Jesus Christ in the community by giving back. The idea of giving the offering back to the congregation did not originate with us, nor did the name. (thanks Oprah) However, we think that this will be an exciting way for us to show our community that God loves them and to encourage each of us to be more aware of those in need around us. I encourage you to browse the stories here and even subscribe for the latest stories to be sent to your reader or email in-box as they are added.

Man from Cleveland

While visiting your church (Parents of Micah and Monica Hannin) we were given an envelope with $50 that we were to pass on to someone who needed it. Well, here is our story:
We met a man through a 12 step program who had overcome so many obstacles and needed some help to retrieve his car from Cleveland.
This man had gone to Cleveland to help a friend that had lost her husband. While there he parked his vehicle in a very large parking lot at a hospital and could not find his car when he returned. He thought the car had been stolen. Having anxiety, he panicked and hitchhiked home to Largo, Florida. He canceled the insurance on the vehicle and walked or asked for a ride when necessary.
He lives with his 74 year old mother that is in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's and takes care of her and the house. He received a call from the Cleveland Police that his car had been found parked in the parking area where he left it. He flew to Cleveland with the financial help from his mother. He prayed that the only key to the vehicle was still in the glove compartment so he could head home. He prayed that when he got there he would find the key and the vehicle would start. He found the key but it would not start. Then wondering what to do, the security personnel from the hospital came by to see if he needed help and got the vehicle started. His next prayer was that he would find his way back home. He arrived safely last week. He knows that God is his Personal Savior.
We explained to him that the $50 we gave him came from a new church in Clermont, Fl. The $ was to help him do something that he needed to do and that when he was in a financial position to he was to pass that same $50 on to someone in need.
He is such a blessing to us. He is a very positive, loving man and so appreciated the help. He thanks your church for the $ that helped him be independent again.
